Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an entry-level position under the direct supervision of program management to provide transportation for children in the Community Based Care (CBC) program and to assist the case management team. In addition to the duties and requirements listed below, YFA expects employees to be committed to incorporating principles of trauma-informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles is demonstrated through active participation in agency-required training, use of trauma-informed practices, and understanding that trauma-informed environments require cultural sensitivity and an emphasis on a safe and respectful environment for all.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide transportation and supervise children as identified by the case management team.
  • Assist the case management team.
  • Provide support services to one case management team and to children/families as assigned.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle and submits required paperwork.
  • Conduct vehicle maintenance activities and addresses maintenance needs.
  • Oversee visitations as assigned by the case management team.
  • Establish positive relationships with children, natural parents, foster and adoptive parents, and extended family.
  • Complete documentation related to provision of services.
  • Participate in meetings and work sessions related to service provision as appropriate and directed by direct supervisor.
  • Complete required training.
  • Assure client confidentiality and ethical practices as outlined in Florida Administrative Code.
  • Maintain safe driving practices, including refraining from receiving traffic violations.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned or as necessary to ensure clients receive necessary services.
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for youth, families, and/or colleagues, in order for individuals to feel emotionally and physically secure and not be re-traumatized.
  • Follow a trauma-informed approach, demonstrating sensitivity to individuals needs’ and experiences.
  • Practice self-care and seek support when necessary to prevent burnout of providing trauma-informed care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Provide transportation for children in the CBC program.
  • Assist the case management team with support services.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be patient, and able to communicate well with children and parents.

  • Stay organized, observant, and manage time efficiently.
  • Use personal vehicle when required.
  • Handle group dynamics effectively.

  • Supervise children during transport and visitations.
  • Maintain and submit vehicle paperwork on time.
  • Coordinate on-call transport as needed.
  • Ensure car seat safety and provide training when necessary.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Complete service documentation promptly.
  • Attend meetings and sessions as directed.
  • Trained and authorized to access protected health information.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and follow ethical practices.
  • Use Microsoft Office, including Outlook Calendar.
  • Practice safe driving and avoid traffic violations.
  • Complete required training on time.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to ensure client services.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma/GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in Human Services or childcare preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 with minimum four years of driving history.
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Willing to submit to and pass a Level II Background Screening and Drug Urinalysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely drive youth passengers
  • Ability to maintain sitting position for at least half of business day
  • Ability to occasionally move/lift up to 25 pounds
