Position Summary:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurately preparing, packaging, and shipping customer orders in a timely manner. This role supports daily shipping operations, ensures inventory accuracy, and coordinates shipments with domestic and international carriers. Experience with international shipping processes is preferred.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare, package, and ship customer and internal orders (production, catalog, and marketing orders).
  • Verify order accuracy, including part numbers, quantities, and shipping documentation.
  • Generate and process shipping paperwork including bills of lading and carrier documentation.
  • Coordinate shipments with carriers such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, and LTL providers.
  • Support international shipments, including documentation and compliance requirements (AES, export paperwork, etc.) when applicable.
  • Perform data entry for shipped orders and resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control within the shipping department.
  • Weigh, pack, and label materials, parcels, and crates appropriately.
  • Review open orders and follow up on missing or incomplete shipment information.
  • Assist with returns to vendors and ensure proper handling of returned materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials per MSDS guidelines.
  • Support packaging requirements, including Level B packaging procedures where applicable.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse role within a manufacturing setting preferred.

Essential/Preferred Skills:

  • 2–4 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience.
  • Experience with international shipping processes preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Infor/Syteline a plus).
  • Familiarity with shipping systems (UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL carriers).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with export documentation and compliance (AES, international regulations).
  • Import/Export certification or related training, preferred.
  • Exposure to lean or continuous improvement practices.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, packaging, labeling, and operating shipping equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials up to 50 pounds without assistance; occasional team lifting may be required for heavier items.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to access materials and complete tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and scales (forklift experience a plus, if applicable).
  • Must be able to read shipping labels, work orders, and computer screens, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Requires attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials by MSDS guidelines.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production and shipping deadlines.
