Sr. Data Architect, Large Scale Distributed Systems in India at Jobgether

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sr. Data Architect, Large Scale Distributed Systems in India.

This is a senior-level architecture role focused on designing and evolving mission-critical distributed systems operating at extreme scale. You will be responsible for defining the backbone of high-throughput platforms that process massive volumes of real-time and batch data from tens of millions of connected sensors. The role requires deep expertise in distributed systems design, event-driven architectures, and large-scale data processing pipelines. You will work across engineering, product, security, and data teams to define architectural strategy, ensure system reliability, and drive technical governance. The environment is highly complex and impact-driven, requiring strong technical leadership and the ability to balance scalability, performance, and security. Your work will directly shape systems that handle billions of daily events and support enterprise-grade cybersecurity capabilities.

• Define and lead the architecture of large-scale distributed systems capable of ingesting and processing high-velocity data from 50M+ connected sensors.
• Design resilient architectures across synchronous (API-driven) and asynchronous (event-driven/streaming) systems.
• Architect real-time and batch data pipelines for high-throughput ingestion, transformation, processing, and storage.
• Establish architectural standards for scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Drive technology strategy, including evaluation and adoption of distributed messaging, streaming, and data storage technologies.
• Ensure system alignment with enterprise security, compliance, and governance requirements.
• Design and operationalize SLAs, SLOs, observability frameworks, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align architecture with product and business objectives.
• Lead design reviews and provide architectural guidance and mentorship across engineering teams.

• 10+ years of experience in distributed systems, backend architecture, or large-scale platform engineering.
• Proven experience designing and scaling systems supporting 50M+ connected devices, or equivalent high-scale environments (IoT, telecom, fintech, ad-tech, etc.).
• Strong expertise in distributed systems principles including CAP theorem, consistency models, partitioning, replication, and sharding.
• Deep experience with event-driven architectures, streaming systems (Kafka, Pulsar, or equivalent), and real-time data processing frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of scalable data stores (NoSQL, analytical databases) and high-throughput system design.
• Experience designing low-latency APIs and multi-region, highly available systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Java, Scala, or Rust.
• Strong understanding of system reliability engineering practices including SLAs, observability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale governance, security, and compliance frameworks is a plus.
• Exposure to IoT, edge-to-cloud architectures, or AI/ML data pipelines is an advantage.
