Job Description

The Quality Control Sorter plays a critical role in ensuring that materials processed within the waste management and remediation services industry meet established quality standards. This position involves meticulously inspecting, sorting, and categorizing various types of waste and recyclable materials to optimize the efficiency of downstream processing and recycling operations. The Quality Control Sorter is responsible for identifying contaminants, defects, or non-compliant items and removing them to maintain the integrity of the material stream. By performing these tasks, the role directly contributes to environmental sustainability efforts and regulatory compliance.

Ultimately, the Quality Control Sorter helps the organization achieve operational excellence and supports the broader mission of responsible waste management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming and processed materials to identify and remove contaminants or non-recyclable items.
  • Sort materials accurately according to type, quality, and recycling requirements to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Operate sorting equipment and tools safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Document sorting activities and report any quality issues or irregularities to supervisors promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production targets and maintain consistent quality control throughout the sorting process.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of waste types and recycling processes.
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights as required.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or quality control roles.
  • Familiarity with sorting machinery and equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations related to waste handling and disposal.
  • Certification in occupational safety or related training.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report and document quality issues.
