Prevention and Community Outreach Advocate

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

YWCA York’s victim services programs—ACCESS York and the Victim Assistance Center—are York County’s sole providers of comprehensive support services to victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Through direct services, prevention education, and community engagement, YWCA York works to end abuse and strengthen community response.

The Prevention and Community Outreach Advocate coordinates and delivers age-appropriate, evidence-based primary prevention education in area schools and collaborates with community partners to support coordinated violence prevention efforts.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrevention Education, Training, and Facilitation
  • Facilitate prevention programs for youth focused on empathy, boundaries, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention
  • Deliver prevention education using evidence-based curricula in school and community settings
  • Train educators and school staff on appropriate responses to sexual abuse and teen dating violence
  • Provide prevention education to underserved and marginalized populations
Advocacy and Crisis Response
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to youth who disclose abuse
  • Provide on-call advocacy and safety planning services at hospitals, colleges, and schools as scheduled
Community Outreach and Awareness
  • Participate in community outreach, awareness campaigns, and public events
  • Assist with the creation of social media and outreach materials
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, and community partners
  • Support increased engagement with underserved populations
Administrative and Program Support
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, reports, and statistical data
  • Assist with program evaluation and outcome tracking
  • Develop and update training and educational materials as needed
Professional Development
  • Participate in agency trainings, meetings, and supervision
  • Engage in ongoing learning related to trauma-informed care, violence prevention, and best practices
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, social work, or a related field OR a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Completion of PCAR/PCADV-required training within 90 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong verbal, written, and public speaking communication skills
  • Knowledge of violence prevention principles and trauma-informed practices
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
  • Proficiency with technology and data-tracking systems
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
