About This Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Preceptor

Department: Hospital Nursing

SUMMARY

The appointed Welia Health Registered Nurse Preceptor is a dynamic individual who works in collaboration with charge nurse and other nursing team members to continuously evaluate the clinical and operational performance of new and current employees who provide clinical care for Welia Health hospital nursing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Delivers high-quality educational experiences for participants.

Effectively communicates with participants.

Completes required paperwork and educational components for classes.

Attend all preceptor education and meetings related to program.

Maintain overall compliance with all Welia Health nursing team operational and clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.

Assures appropriate documentation of onboarding process and all related nursing competency training activities.

Assure new team members are competent to perform all skills and procedures and utilize all provided nursing tools and equipment.

Monitors the performance of new nurses through their orientation process and provides feedback on clinical performance to identified nurse leader.

Active involvement in program modifications, including selecting necessary competencies, orientation outline and education needed during orientation process.

Considers age-related factors in care, education, and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures.

Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The following certifications could include, but are not limited to: Current certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse. Credentialed in the area precepting. One year of full time experience at Welia Health. BSN degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memo. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to volunteers, public, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
