Under general direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of the Mary Greeley Medical Center. Position Responsibilities
-
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities- Instill a culture of customer service by emphasizing responsiveness, resourcefulness, follow-through, accuracy, timeliness and accountability.
- Coordinates unit shared decision-making teams; ensures effective utilization of meeting time and that meeting minutes are documented.
- Creates ownership in decision-making processes by collaborating with others to identify problems, develop solutions, and implements and monitors effectiveness of solutions.
- Implements, revises, communicate and monitor compliance with organizational and pediatric specific policies and clinical guidelines for safe patient care delivery.
- Accountable for attendance, participation and dissemination of information from organization and nursing department meetings.
- Participates in the medical centers’ Quality Improvement plan by gathering and analyzing data associated with continuous improvement of care and services, and monitoring quality control programs.
- Acts as a department resource for unit-specific core competencies.
- Functions in the capacity of staff as needed.
- Responsible for oversight of outpatient clinic programming of the Rehab & Wellness Department in Ames and Story City.
- Performs all essential functions of a staff physical or occupational therapist or speech language pathologist.
- Performs thorough evaluations, develops and administers treatment plans through use of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology standards of care, coordinates treatment plans with patient, family and or significant others. Monitors patient's response to therapeutic interventions and modifies treatment plan as indicated to attain desired goals.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
-
Graduation from a college or university with either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Therapy, Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, Post-Graduate Certificate in Physical Therapy, or Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy. OR, graduate of an Occupational Therapy program or graduate of a WFOT approved Occupational Therapy program; successful completion of a minimum of six months Level II Fieldwork experience; successful completion of AOTA Certification Examination for Occupational Therapist, OR graduate of a Speech-Language Pathology program; successful completion of required internship training; successful completion of requirements for Certification of Clinical Competency as defined by The American Speech and Hearing Association. This position requires five years of professional experience.

Possession of license or eligibility for licensure as a physical, occupational therapist or speech language pathologist issued by the State of Iowa Department of Health and the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy or the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Organizational Requirements:

Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:-
Doctor of Physical Therapy, APTA Board Specialist Certification, or

Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy, AOTA Board /Specialty Certification, or Advanced Practice speech pathologist

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:-
Skill in effective oral and written communication in English.

Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Ability to manage one’s time effectively.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:-
3 Years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
