Key Responsibilities & Performance Standards

Program Design & Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and manage a system-wide WPVP program in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Lead the development, integration, and regular review of organizational policies, reporting protocols, response workflows, and emergency procedures to ensure a coordinated, trauma-informed approach to workplace violence prevention.
  • Ensure all practices reflect a coordinated, trauma-informed approach to workplace violence prevention.
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to the workplace violence committee on aligning training efforts with program objectives and regulatory standards.

Risk Assessment & Incident Response

  • Plan and lead routine, data-informed risk assessments across diverse clinical and non-clinical environments.
  • Identify violence-related patterns, vulnerabilities, and develop corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Direct responses to incidents of workplace violence, including triage, multidisciplinary investigations, follow-up interventions, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Public Safety, Nursing, Legal, HR, and Behavioral Health to manage high-risk or escalating situations.
  • Maintain secure, confidential records to support trend analysis and compliance.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary organizational liaison for all WPVP efforts.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with operational leaders, union representatives, ERGs, and external partners.
  • Ensure alignment, inclusivity, and equity in all prevention strategies.
  • Lead transparent communication of program goals, policies, metrics, and results.
  • Build trust through proactive engagement and consistent support at all levels of the organization.

Education and Training Oversight

  • Oversee system-wide implementation of workplace violence prevention training across OHSU, in partnership with trainers, master instructors, and the Injury Prevention Specialist Trainer.
  • Directly supervise and support the Injury Prevention Specialist Trainer, ensuring alignment of training content with program objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide administrative oversight of training records, documentation, and learning management systems to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Contribute to related initiatives and support departmental goals under the direction of the Director of Occupational Health.


Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g., social work, behavioral health, psychology)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in WPVP, or workplace health and safety programs, preferably in a healthcare or high-risk environment.
  • Experience in program management and implementation.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and supporting efforts involving sensitive, confidential, or trauma-related subject matter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to respond effectively to changing priorities and emerging needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional correspondence and formatting.
  • Qualifications

    • Master’s degree or clinical background (e.g., social work, behavioral health, psychology)
    • Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulatory environments (local, state, and federal).
    • Experience working in or with mental health or behavioral health environments.
    • Experience in crisis de-escalation or threat assessment
