Night Pharmacist (Coverage)

Location: Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, NC
Schedule: Sunday–Saturday, 24-hour coverage (8.5–13.5 hour shifts)
Reports To: To Be Determined


Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Night Shift Pharmacist with inpatient experience to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care and coverage at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the health and wellness of active-duty members, their families, and other eligible beneficiaries.

This position involves performing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, collaborating with medical professionals, and providing patient-centered medication counseling.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compound medications as required, including sterile compounding in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards.

  • Provide technical and clinical direction to pharmacy technicians and corpsmen.

  • Maintain required clinical privileges per MTF requirements.

  • Perform therapeutic drug monitoring, including anticoagulation management and pharmacokinetic monitoring (e.g., vancomycin, aminoglycosides).

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with MTF policies and approved scope of practice.

  • Document all clinical interventions and pharmaceutical care activities per MTF policy.

  • Provide drug information and clinical consultation to physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, and residents for inpatient and outpatient care.

  • Consult with specialty practitioners referred for pharmaceutical services.

  • Conduct and document drug utilization reviews (DURs) as required.

  • Identify, document, and communicate significant medication interactions and prescriber consultations.

  • Renew medications per policies approved by the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.

  • Review prescriptions at admission and discharge to identify potential interactions and therapy concerns.

  • Provide bedside medication delivery and patient education, including instructions for use and monitoring.

  • Coordinate and conduct follow-up calls to address medication regimens, questions, and adherence, providing phone and online support as needed.

  • Ensure pharmacy work areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with all applicable regulations.

  • Provide input into performance evaluations of pharmacy technicians and corpsmen.


Qualifications
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

  • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year professional pharmacy experience post-graduation, including experience in an inpatient practice setting.

  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted pharmacist license.


About the Role

This is a coverage position requiring flexibility to work various shifts to support 24-hour operations. You will be part of a high-performing healthcare team providing essential pharmaceutical care to a military community



Sunday through Saturday; 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (12-hour overnight shifts), scheduled based on operational needs.
36–40 hours per week, depending on schedule
