About This Position
The Director of Student Life and Recruitment provides strategic leadership for both student life and college recruitment efforts. This position oversees two key professional roles: The Student Life Associate and the College Recruiter. The Director is responsible for enhancing student engagement, overseeing outreach strategies, and promoting retention and holistic student development. This includes managing and planning campus activities, student leadership development, community and school partnerships, and major college-wide events. The Director will ensure a cohesive student experience by aligning outreach with student life programming. The Director is also responsible for strategy creation for one-college recruitment to include high school, community, curriculum, and workforce continuing education.

•Provide leadership and supervision to the Student Life and Recruitment department staff.
•Provide strategic vision for integrated recruitment and student engagement initiatives and activities.
•Ensure effective collaboration between recruitment and student life to promote a seamless student experience.
•Provide oversight of SCC’s one-college recruitment strategy, including outreach to middle and high schools, community partners, and non-traditional student groups.
•Act as an advisor to the Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Ambassadors.
•Lead day-to-day recruitment efforts and strategy to include communication and event planning with multiple departments and stakeholders across campus.
•Learn and stay current with all program information, requirements, and employment trends.
•Meet with program coordinators/chairs regularly to learn program updates for recruiting purposes.
•Coordinate and chaperone travel for SGA students to regional conferences.
•Oversee the coordination of student life activities at the Pinehurst Campus and Hoke Center.
•Provide operations oversight for student life and recruitment in the Dempsey Student Center, including oversight of the SCC Game Room.
•Plan and implement student leadership events and training.
•Oversee the coordination and quality of intentional campus tours across all Sandhills Community college campuses.
•Oversee ordering and paying for Student ID supplies, maintaining the machines and their service contracts, and ensuring we remain in compliance with voter ID regulations.
•Formulate policies and procedures related to student life and recruitment that align with the college’s strategic plan.
•Oversee marketing and communications related to student life and recruitment, including print, web, and social media.
•Address student concerns and serve as a liaison between students and campus administration.
•Collaborate with academic departments and external organizations to support holistic student development and engagement.
•Grow campus clubs and mentor students and advisors related to club development.
•Oversee designated retention and enrollment initiatives such as First 42, the Campus Food Pantry, the CRM Request for Information forms, and other enrollment and recruitment communications vital to campus recruitment.
•Oversee the appropriate and consistent use of the college’s mascot, Marty McFlyer and other Student Life and Recruitment branded materials.
•Work with the SCC Foundation and the Senior Director of Enrollment and Student Experience, to set, balance, and maintain the SCC Student Life and Recruitment budgets for each fiscal year.
•Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Enrollment and Student Experience and the Vice President of Student Services.

- Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8am-5pm; however, this position requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and occasional travel based on event schedules.
