Job Summary:

The Operating Room/Endoscopy staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients undergoing surgical/endoscopic intervention. The RN is directly responsible to the Operating Room PCC Nurse. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development; possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. This position requires “Call” and you must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes if called out.

Monitors and controls activities in the operating room in order to assure safety and sterility is consistently maintained. Demonstrates the aptitude to anticipate the needs of the patient, surgeon, or other providers per procedure or in the event of an emergency. Demonstrates the ability to recognize and intervene in critical situations Consistently educates patients and family on equipment, medications, safety, pain control, discharge needs and follow up instructions. Completes accurate and timely documentation Is competent to access and utilize EMR for the provision of patient care. Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilities. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to safely and appropriately fulfill job specific responsibilities related to safety, security, emergency preparedness, control of hazardous materials/waste, life safety medical equipment and utility systems as outlined in the hospital's environment of care plan. Demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of the operating room circulator as defined in the Surgical Services Policy.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program.

Work Experience:

Experience as OR/Endo RN preferred but not required. At least, 2 years hands on nursing experience required

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

• Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
