About This Position
About the Role:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support throughout their medical journey. This position involves a blend of clinical and administrative tasks, allowing the CMA to interact directly with patients while also managing essential office functions. The CMA will be responsible for taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, and performing phlebotomy, which are all vital for accurate patient assessments. Additionally, the CMA will maintain medical records and ensure that the office runs smoothly, contributing to an efficient healthcare environment.
The work schedule is approximately 5 hours per week on Wednesday evening.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
- Current Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized certifying body.
- Bilingual Spanish Speaking Preferred
- Ability to work Wednesday Evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in a medical office or clinic.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Bilingual abilities to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Front desk patient registration and check out responsibilities.
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting healthcare providers during procedures when needed.
- Conduct phlebotomy and other laboratory tests as required, ensuring proper techniques and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records, including scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care, fostering a supportive environment for patient inquiries.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
Skills:
The required skills for this position, such as medical assisting and vital signs monitoring, are essential for providing direct patient care and ensuring accurate health assessments. Phlebotomy skills are utilized daily to draw blood and perform laboratory tests, which are critical for diagnosing and treating patients.
