About This Position
Perform patient care on emergency medical calls; communicate with dispatcher and officer personnel in person and via two-way radio.
Always be aware of safety for you and other crew members.
Maintain a high quality of customer service with the citizens and the public.
Assist with the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, apparatus and equipment; maintain equipment inventory.
Attends and completes required education and training sessions as assigned, maintains required licenses and certifications.
Knowledge of:
Operation, maintenance, and use of EMS equipment.
County resources, such as equipment, staffing, communications and mutual aid agreements.
Emergency medical service operations, principles, and practices.
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to:
Recognize life threatening and emergency situations and take appropriate action.
Interpret and explain department policies and procedures.
Prepare clear and concise reports.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and mutual aid departments.
Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the Standard Medical Operating Procedures (SMOPs), policies, rules, and regulations.
Education and Experience:
Highschool diploma/GED.
College level coursework preferred.
Minimum of 1 year with a 911 system
License or Certificate Requirements
Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License Class “C” Class “B” preferred.
Possession of Texas DSHS Paramedic certification.
Possession of BCLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS or ITLS certifications.
Possession of National Incident Management Systems ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications.
TCFP Basic Fire Fighter Required for FF/Paramedic.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Emergency environments include but are not limited to; dangerous persons and animals; hazards of emergency driving; hazards associated with traffic control and working near traffic; and natural and human-made disasters.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for heavy; moderate; or light lifting; walking; standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; and repeated bending.
Shift Schedule:
Will be assigned to a shift working 48/96
