This supports the Mobile Unit that travels across SD, IA and MN as well as the on site donations.

Job Summary
The Donor Technician specializes in collecting blood from donors in accordance with FDA guidelines, using both traditional as well as apheresis procedures, and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the donor by following established standards and practices. In addition, they are responsible for component preparation, storage, and packaging following cGMP guidelines to ensure product quality, sterility and time requirements are met. Other duties may include processing phone calls, donor cancellations, therapeutic procedures and other inquiries regarding blood donations.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent credits from college or technical school OR 1 year laboratory related experience required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related phlebotomy experience plus hands-on training in apheresis blood collection preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) or Phlebotomist Technician (PBT) from the ASCP preferred.
Work Schedule
Varied Shifts - Monday to Friday; Start as early as 6am and late as 10:30 pm. Shifts will typically be 10 hour shifts.
Occasional weekends on the Mobile Unit- Either Saturday or Sunday (no overnight stays)
Full Time; 80hrs/2wks
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
- $18.25 - $24.00 per hour
