About This Position

The UM Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS)invites applications for a Facilities Associate. Reporting to the FLBS Head of Housekeeping, you will perform custodial duties for the entire FLBS campus (including auxiliaries). This is a yearlong temporary position.


  • Implement standard cleaning techniques and cleanliness standards in bathrooms, offices, classrooms, kitchens, dining hall, and residences
  • May need to shovel snow around apartments, lodge and bathhouses, and the kitchen in winter season
  • Move and set up conference rooms for events
  • Conduct inventory for cleaning supplies
  • Provide customer service to the general public
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Thorough knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and cleaning supplies
  • Good housekeeping and bed making skills, a strong commitment to presentation and health/safety issues
  • Experience and knowledge of operating floor machine, carpet shampooer, vacuum sweepers, wet vaccum and other tools of the trade
  • Have good communication and customer service skills for interacting with faculty, staff and visitors
  • Ability to lift and move heavy chairs, tables, beds, audiovisual equipment, etc., which requires mobility and physical demands
  • Ability to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate off schedule departure/arrival times for workshops

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year in custodial/housekeeping experience

Position Number: 920R07

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months

Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
