About This Position
The Materials Handling Operator must be self-motivated, focused, and willing to learn new tasks. They must be team oriented with the ability to communicate clearly with their peers. They must also be accountable for their own safety and for following Halocarbons policies and procedures.
The Materials Handling Operator is responsible for the following:
1) Adhere to plant safety requirements and promote a positive safety culture, leading also by example.
2) Adhere to all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements.
3) Unload and load trucks, drums, and other containers.
4) Monitor and maintain shared process utilities.
5) Responsible for proper cGMP documentation.
6) Follow written and oral instructions.
7) Work flexible hours and overtime hours as required by the job.
8) Train on all duties under the supervision of an experienced Operator or Team Leader.
9) Notify Shift Supervisor of all incidents.
10) Perform housekeeping routinely and maintain the highest housekeeping standards.
11) Demonstrate and promote Halocarbon's Core Values of Caring, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Competitive Spirit.
Education:
• High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent.
• Experience in a manufacturing site preferred.
• Bulk truck loading experience preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• South Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator license preferred. Training will be provided in absence of an existing license, with the expectation of maintaining at Level D.
Problem solving/ Technical:
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Must have good communication abilities.
• Must have good troubleshooting skills.
• cGMP knowledge is preferred.
• Basic understanding of DOT regulations (such as placard requirements, vessel inspection, etc.) preferred.
Safety/ Essential Functions:
• Commitment for a strong safety culture is a requirement. Leads by example.
• Must understand the hazards of the chemicals and equipment.
• Must be capable of working in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure.
• Must be able to safely handle hazardous chemicals on a regular basis.
• Must be trained and able to operate a forklift.
• Must be capable of working in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) with or without full acid gear.
• Must be trained and able to wear supplied air respirators.
• Must be able to use readily available fall protection equipment (current standard fall protection and rescue equipment is rated at 310 pounds).
• Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to use equipment within its design limits (weight limit on a ladder, for example).
• Must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to appropriate assigned muster point, in the event of an emergency or drill.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs and ladders.
