JOB SUMMARY

• The Registered Nurse utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care; functions in a skills mix environment and directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff; follows medical center policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines; meets qualifications, licensure/certifications, and competencies as defined in the unit/department-specific Plan for Providing Care; applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty; utilizes knowledge in the delivery of quality whole person care; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population; performs other duties as needed. Performs nursing process with minimal supervision, seeks assistance as necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Education & Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required (Master’s in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports), or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s Degree in Health, Administration, Education, or related field required (Master’s in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports), or,
• Knowledge & Skills
  • Able to: read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Able to: relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
