Job Title: GNC Analyst – Orion Program

Denver, CO or Houston, TX

Overview:

Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor for NASA’s Orion Program, is seeking a GNC Analyst to support the development and integration of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems for deep space exploration missions. Orion is a critical part of NASA’s Artemis program, designed to establish a long-term presence on the Moon and pave the way for human missions to Mars.

As a GNC Analyst, you will work on designing, analyzing, and testing GNC algorithms and models that ensure the spacecraft’s stability, precision, and reliability in extreme space environments. You will collaborate with engineers and mission specialists to develop cutting-edge solutions that enable astronaut safety and mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and analyze GNC algorithms to support spacecraft operations, including trajectory optimization, attitude control, and orbital maneuvers.
  • Utilize Matlab/Simulink to model, simulate, and validate spacecraft dynamics and control systems.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and troubleshoot GNC-related issues in both simulated and real-world test environments.
  • Support system-level integration, working closely with Controls, Systems Engineering, and Test teams.
  • Contribute to vibration and drop testing campaigns to assess the spacecraft’s resilience under launch and spaceflight conditions.
  • Collaborate with NASA and Lockheed Martin engineering teams to refine and enhance GNC capabilities for future Artemis missions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink for modeling and analysis of dynamic systems.
  • Strong GNC analysis experience, including algorithm development and system performance evaluation.
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics, control theory, and spacecraft dynamics.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Control Systems Design and performance tuning for aerospace applications.
  • Background in Systems Engineering, including requirements analysis and verification processes.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft hardware, sensors, and actuators relevant to GNC applications.
