About This Position
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and personable Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both clinical and administrative responsibilities, knowledgeable in various insurance plans and government programs, and able to deliver high-quality patient care with professionalism and a positive attitude.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesAccurately perform and document vital signs, patient histories, and intake assessments.
Conduct venipuncture, specimen collection, and assist with diagnostic procedures and lab processing.
Support providers during exams and treatments as needed.
Ensure compliance with VFC (Vaccines for Children) and CHDP (Child Health and Disability Prevention) program standards.
Assist in maintaining and updating clinical logs, immunization records, and required reporting.
Follow infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance procedures.
Process and register patients at the front desk, including verifying insurance, updating patient information, and managing appointments.
Handle patient check-in and check-out, collect copayments, and coordinate referrals or authorizations when required.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of IPAs, HMOs, PPOs, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other insurance plans.
Ensure accurate use of ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing and documentation.
Support HEDIS-related documentation and assist with Initial Health Assessments (IHAs) and follow-up requirements.
Certified or trained Medical Assistant (back office and/or front office).
Strong knowledge of various IPAs, insurance plans, and government-funded programs.
Must be certified and/or fully knowledgeable in VFC and CHDP requirements.
Familiarity with HEDIS measures, Preventive Care guidelines, and related reporting.
Proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Experience in venipuncture, labs, and patient intake processes.
Excellent communication skills and a pleasing, patient-friendly personality.Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Bilingual skills, preferably Spanish
Experience with Office Ally EMR/EHR systems.
Minimum of 2 years Medical Assistant work experience in a private or community clinic, FQHC, or multispecialty practice.
Strong understanding of quality metrics and compliance standards.
