About This Position
Fincantieri Marine Systems North America has an immediate need for a Quality Assurance NDT Inspector for our Fincantieri Marine Repair LLC location in Jacksonville, FL. This is a 1st shift role, Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm, with occasional 2nd shift responsibilities. This position is ideal for someone certified in ASNT Level II or a verifiable equivalent NDT-qualified inspector with experience in MT/PT/VT/UT - Shear Wave and auditing.

Position Summary
The Quality Assurance/NDT Inspector will conduct in-process and non-destructive testing (MT, PT, VT, and UT Shear Wave) in accordance with NAVSEA and ABS standards, maintaining NSI 009-004 compliant test and submitting TIPs and RRs in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD). Ensure strict adherence to Flushing, Cofferdam, and 5XXX Aluminum Process Control requirements.
Domestic travel may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Perform the in-process and final NDT inspections in accordance with NAVSEA and ABS standards, using various tools (calipers, micrometers, deep mics, bore gages, etc.).
- Audits and Inspection: Conduct routine safety inspections to verify the presence and functionality of fire prevention, equipment readiness, and first-aid supplies. Must be able to follow NAVSEA and ABS standards for inspections.
- Safety and Quality: Maximize safety awareness from job hazard analyses conducted and resolve quality issues related to material inspections at checkpoint notifications, identifying defects, such as weld and base metal defects, even where limited standardization exists.
- Compliance and Documentation: Create and maintain NSI 009-04 compliant test and inspection plans (TIPs) and reports (RRs) in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD). Submit Objective Quality Evidence (OQE), process NCRs, log nonconformances, and recommend process improvements.
- Proficient in interpreting technical documents, including blueprints, specifications, work orders, contracts, and schematics in various formats (written, oral, diagram, schedule).
- Must have ability to read and interpret ISO, OSHA, NAVSEA standard Items, and state/local regulations.
- Experience with Flushing, Cofferdam, and 5XXX Aluminum Process Control requirements.
- Must have experience with ISO 9001:2015, NAVSEA, ABS, USCG, and commercial standards.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, and working knowledge of project management software.
- Must have strong organizational, time-management, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 2+ Years of Quality Assurance experience required, safety experience preferred.
- Certifications and/or Licenses: ASNDT Level II Inspector or verifiable equivalent NDT qualified with education and hours. Experience in MT/PT/VT/UT-Shear Wave methods in accordance with ASNT, SNT-TC-1A, and Lead or Internal Auditor experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, areas of the work environment may not be climate-controlled, and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
