About This Position
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Intern
Department: Pharmacy
Reports to: Director of Pharmacy
Job Summary:
The purpose of the pharmacy technician internship is to train and prepare new pharmacy technicians or to advance the careers of current pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy technician intern will enroll in a nine-month internship program consisting of two phases. Phase 1 is comprised of didactic teaching and hands on participation in various areas of pharmacy for three months, and phase 2 comprised of on-the-job training for six months. Advancement to Phase 2 is contingent upon successful completion of Phase 1. The pharmacy technician internship is designed to develop essential knowledge and skills required to become nationally certified and to serve the vital role of a pharmacy technician.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete and display competency of all required components of the customized training (didactic) and the on-the-job training experiences within the designated timeframe
- Meet the attendance requirement of the internship program
- Become nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) by the sixth month of the internship
- Understand and follow federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
- Comply with all of the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital procedures and policies

Required Experience/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass background check and drug test
- Must obtain pharmacy technician registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy by the program start date
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
