Instructor, Computer Science, Full-time, Tenure-line at Jamestown Community College (NY) – Jamestown, New York

Full-time, tenure-line faculty position in computer science and information technology available Fall 2026 on the Jamestown campus. Teaching responsibilities on the Cattaraugus County Campus may be required.

Full-time, tenure-line instructional faculty at JCC are responsible for teaching, driving course and program development, working directly with students in the teaching and evaluation of learning, engaging in the work of the college, and continuing to develop as professional educators. The current teaching load for full-time, tenure-line faculty is 30 or 32 credit hours per 9-month contract year, and positions may include the potential for additional teaching opportunities in the summer.

Responsibilities include teaching foundational courses in areas such as programming, networking, security, web development, or database management, supporting students in developing technical skills and conceptual thinking. The successful candidate will collaborate with the computer science faculty to develop curriculum, support and maintain dynamic and inclusive lab environments that encourage experimentation and innovation, and actively engage in departmental and college-wide initiatives.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience in a technology-related discipline
  • Note: A master’s degree is required for tenure in accordance with institutional policy
• Experience with multiple current or emerging technologies relevant to computer science or information technology (e.g., cloud platforms, virtualization, systems or server administration, networking, cybersecurity tools, data or AI-related technologies)
• Demonstrated ability or strong potential to teach effectively in multiple instructional modalities, including in-person and online environments, with particular interest in asynchronous instruction

Preferred

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
• Teaching experience in higher education, particularly at the community college level
• Professional or industry experience in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field
• Evidence of leadership, collaboration, or initiative (e.g., curriculum development, mentoring, project leadership, committee work, or industry roles)

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Please note that rank will vary depending upon experience and credentials:

• If hired at the instructor level: $46,584 - $54,456/year (Salary represents a 9-month contract)
• If hired at the assistant professor level: $51,191 - $57,801/year (Salary represents a 9-month contract)
• If hired at the associate professor level: $56,254 - $61,352/year (Salary represents a 9-month contract)
• If hired at the professor level: $61,817 - $65,120/year (Salary represents a 9-month contract)
