About This Position
The Lincoln County Health and Human Services Department is looking for a Medical Biller 1 or 2 for their team. This person will assist in the maintenance of accounting and financial records by applying bookkeeping methods to a variety of recording functions while providing customer service to both external and internal clients, partners, and co-workers.. They will review medical claims, prior and subsequent to billing, to ensure accuracy and facilitate reimbursements. This position is also responsible for applying bookkeeping methods to a variety of recording and auditing functions.
Medical Biller 2 is a remote position with occasional in-person requitements in Newport.*
MB1: $23.44 - $27.17 per hour*
MB2: $25.32 - $29.36 per hour*

EDUCATION
MB1: High School Diploma / GED
MB2: Associates degree in a relevant field and/or Coder a Biller certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
EXPERIENCE
MB1: One year experience in general office work which includes fiscal record keeping or bookkeeping.
MB2: Two-Three years' experience in medical office work which includes fiscal record keeping, billing, and claim submission; including or supplemented by courses in medical billing.
Certifications:
MB1: None
MB2: Coder or Biller through AAPC or AHIMA
*If certified as a Coder or Biller, the employee is required to maintain current and active certification, and to provide the appropriate verifications at the time of renewals.
Desirable Qualifications:
Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population preferred. Federally Qualified Health Center or Rural Health Center experience preferred.
Knowledge of/Ability to:
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Office methods and procedure.
- Familiarity with the use of standard office machines.
- Perform detailed work involving written or numerical data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
