About This Position
Job Summary
The Electronic Test Technician is responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, and verification of electronic assemblies and subsystems used in military laser rangefinder products. This role supports the production, integration, and sustainment of electro-optical targeting and ranging systems, ensuring all electronic performance requirements are met in accordance with stringent defense and aerospace standards. The technician will work hands-on with precision electronics, test equipment, and automated test systems to validate functionality, identify failures, and support corrective actions throughout the manufacturing and qualification lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform functional, performance, and acceptance testing of electronic assemblies supporting laser rangefinder and targeting systems.
- Execute test procedures for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, including power regulation, timing, pulse control, and signal processing electronics.
- Operate and maintain standard electronic test equipment such as:
- Oscilloscopes
- Digital multimeters (DMM)
- Spectrum analyzers
- Logic analyzers
- Power supplies and electronic loads
- Signal and pulse generators
- Troubleshoot electronic failures at the board, subsystem, and box level using schematics, technical data packages, and engineering support.
- Support integration and test of laser rangefinder electronics including:
- High-voltage pulse circuitry
- Laser firing and control boards
- Receiver and detector signal chains
- Embedded monitoring and interlock systems
- Document test results, discrepancies, and corrective actions using manufacturing travelers, MES systems, and quality reporting tools.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve nonconformances and implement process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with ESD control, laser safety awareness, and defense manufacturing requirements.
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and test procedures.
- Skilled in identifying, analyzing and resolving electrical, mechanical and optical issues.
- Ability to verify software and programming on integrated hardware systems.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with engineers, production teams and management.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 30lbs.
- Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 2+ years’ experience with optical / laser system test procedures, operating instructions, drawings, schematics and specifications in a DoD manufacturing environment
- 4+ years’ experience with electrical/electronic troubleshooting
