About This Position
***Join the Bexley Aquatics Team as a seasonal lifeguard this summer! A lifeguard role is a great opportunity to enjoy outdoor time, meet great people, and earn additional cash. A Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required. Not certified? No problem! The City will reimburse up to $200 of the cost of Red Cross certification if you work a minimum number of hours/weeks over the summer!
This is a seasonal position supporting operations of the David H Madison Pool. The pool season runs May-September with additional pre-season training time potentially required.
Protect the safety and well being of each patron using the Bexley Community Pool and provide courteous, friendly and professional customer service.
Correctly enforce all pool rules and educate patrons.
Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and unsafe activities in and around the pool.
Follows the cleaning schedule for the pool facility.
Follows the rotation schedule as established.
Attends regularly scheduled in-services to maintain proper skills and confidence.
Helps direct patron questions to the head guard or manager.
Other duties may be assigned.
Must be at least 15 1/2 years of age at time employment begins.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate, or ability to obtain before employment begins.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the City.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to interpret and follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a limited number of distinct tasks and functions in standardized situations.
Must have excellent communication skills. Must be reliable and punctual and maintain excellent attendance.
Must work effectively with a team.
Other Qualifications:
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be comfortable in and around water.
