The Senior Manager, BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) leads day-to-day residential support operations for those in long-term treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. In this role, you will manage safety and regulatory compliance, crisis response and build strong working relationships with clinical, case management and medical teams to ensure continuity of care. The Senior Manager focuses on staff support, setting clear expectations, effective crisis response while ensuring team members model healthy behaviors and respond to resident needs using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.

Requirements:

Staff Supervision & Workforce Development:

  • Oversee 24/7 operation, including staffing coverage, scheduling, and on-call support.
  • Lead hiring, on-boarding, training, and retention strategies for Residential Support Staff.
  • Manage supervisors, provide coaching, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Ensure staff competency in de-escalation, crisis intervention, documentation, and boundaries.
  • Model and reinforce trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered practices.
  • Oversee staff in the cultivation of a resident-centered and safe environment.
  • Foster staff resilience, professional growth, and burnout prevention.
  • Clinical & Interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Partner closely with clinical, medical, and case management teams to support integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders.
  • Participate in case reviews and treatment team interventions as appropriate.
  • Support continuity of care and consistent application of program rules, privileges, and behavioral intervention.
  • Work with Patient Experience to ensure planning and facilitation of fun, positive patient activities and events.

Quality, Safety & Compliance:

  • Comply with state licensing, accreditation standards and organizational policies.
  • Monitor incident reports, grievances, and safety trends related to the RSS team.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation by residential support staff.
  • Lead corrective action plans and quality improvement initiatives related to RSS.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for safety concerns, and staff support needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in behavioral health or residential treatment, including progressive leadership responsibility.
  • 3-5 years people management experience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations in inpatient or residential settings.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, recovery models, and crisis intervention.
