Mount Sinai Hospital 2 North is a 34 bed medical - surgical unit staffed by registered nurses, LPNs, and CNAs providing care for our patient population. We take pride in teamwork on 2 North.

As a Level One Trauma Center, our unit receives trauma patients as well as post-surgical patients of a multitude of specialties. Our patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department or from the Post Anesthesia Care unit. We also receive patients being transferred from the SICU or from the Surgical Step-down and direct admission for pre-op care. In addition to caring for trauma patients we care for a wide spectrum of surgical patients ranging from general surgical procedures vascular surgeries, bariatric surgeries, gyne surgeries, orthopedic surgery and, spine surgery . Our physician team includes board certified Intensivists and Trauma physicians, and surgeons from all specialties.

We also have a full complement of Resident Physicians specializing in trauma; trauma surgery; general surgery; ear, nose and throat; orthopedics; obstetrics, gynecology, oncology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, and much more. We work closely with our social workers which link our patients to support services. They also assist with resources to help patients cope with any post-traumatic stress, medication assistance programs, placement issues, and transition from hospital to home. Our therapy team consists of speech, physical and occupational therapists that do a wonderful job in getting our patients up and moving.

Staffing and scheduling is always of concern to our nursing staff. We utilize online self-scheduling to fit the individual needs of our caregivers with the added convenience of being able to view your schedule and make requests at any time. In addition, we utilize online shift bidding to offer open shifts at a premium rate to provide our nurses with the opportunity to pick up extra shifts, flex staff and enhance continuity of care.
