ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP POSITIONThis unpaid, part-time second-year internship is designed for graduate students enrolled in MSW, LMHC, or LMFT programs who are completing their advanced clinical practicum. The internship provides supervised, hands-on experience delivering culturally responsive, trauma-informed outpatient mental health services to individuals and families.
Under the guidance of licensed clinical supervisors, the Outpatient Clinical Intern will build advanced clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, in alignment with academic and licensure-track requirements. This internship supports CSR’s mission of advancing effective, equitable mental health care while fostering professional development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAll responsibilities are completed under appropriate clinical supervision and consistent with second-year internship competencies.
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and contribute to clinical formulations and diagnoses, as appropriate to training level.
- Manage a caseload of up to 10 members
- Develop and implement individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with supervisors and clients.
- Provide individual and/or family therapy using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
- Participate in clinical team meetings, case consultations, and required supervision.
- Collaborate with supervisors and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and support referrals.
- Assist with consultation and communication with schools, medical providers, and community partners.
- Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, academic, and insurer standards.
- Engage in required trainings, supervision, seminars, and mandatory meetings.
- Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and professional/ethical standards.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited MSW, LMHC, or LMFT graduate program and approved for a second-year/advanced clinical internship.
- Eligible to begin practicum/internship per academic institution requirements.
- Interest in outpatient mental health treatment with children, adolescents, adults, and/or families.
- Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practice.
- Willingness to obtain Massachusetts CBHI CANS certification
- Strong clinical writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to attend the office in person three days per week, with Wednesdays being a required day.
- Reliable transportation
- One year minimum of prior clinical or field experience in culturally diverse mental health or human services settings.
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.
- Weekly individual supervision provided by licensed clinicians (LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT).
- Weekly administrative supervision by Intern Admin Managers
- Weekly group supervision
