About This Position
Piping Designer
Magnum is seeking mid-level Piping Design candidates with 10-15 years’ experience. In-Plant piping design experience in an existing petrochemical facility project is required. CADWorx and AutoCAD are required. This is a fully benefitted position, long term onsite located in Sweeny, Texas. There is no relocation or per diem.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Prepare or assist in preparation of project documents, such as estimates, bid packages, etc. for complete construction packages.
- Produce 3D Models of Piping Systems interfacing with all other applicable disciplines using CADWorx.
- Identify Pipe support requirements.
- Produce all applicable Piping design documents such as Isometrics, Tie-In Lists, Blind Lists, Details, Bill of Materials, Scopes of Work, etc. in accordance with Client standards.
- Perform field survey to verify correctness of drawings and determine optimum design.
- Coordinate design activities with other applicable discipline team members.
- Generate and maintain project records and logs and progress reports.
- Participate and/or lead Engineering Design and Review as required
Experience Requirements
- In-Plant brownfield experience is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Piping Design practices.
- Able to plan and organize projects from inception to start up.
- Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of chemical or refinery facilities and integration of project work in these facilities.
- Self-motivated with ability to originate and adapt.
- Able to execute multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in use of following:
- Working knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, Project, etc.)
- Strong desire to learn and work in a team environment
- AutoCAD
- CADWorx Piping Design tools
- Use of 3D scan data to facilitate design.
Education: Associates degree in Drafting Design or equivalent degree with focus on Piping Design -or- 10-15 years of directly related industry experience. Experience in a piping craft position a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- This position is primarily in an office environment. However, field investigation of in-plant piping, civil, structural, or mechanical equipment requires the ability to don personnel protective equipment (PPE) such as flame-retardant clothing (FRC), hardhat, safety eyewear, safety footwear, fall protection harnesses or other specialty PPE. Ability to manipulate office materials and/or equipment and occasionally Lift, Hold/Carry 5-10lbs.

- Above shoulder
Required Climbing Abilities: To move up or mount stairs and ladders by using the hands or feet as required including, a step stool ladder, 8’ to 10’ ladder, extension ladder and/or stairs of 1-3 or more flights.
Required Ability to Stand, Sit, Walk:
- Frequency is occasional as required by job duties 9 plus hours per day.
Required ability to walk over terrain conditions:
- Flat
- Rough
