Position Summary
The Field Safety Technician is responsible for supporting field operations by monitoring job sites, enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards. This role works closely with operations leadership and field crews to proactively identify hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Safety Oversight
- Monitor active job sites to ensure compliance with company safety policies and client safety requirements.
- Conduct job site safety inspections and audits.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment by field personnel.
- Identify unsafe conditions and work with supervisors to implement corrective actions.
- Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Verify permits, JSA/JHA documentation, and required safety documentation prior to job execution.
- Support compliance with refinery and plant safety procedures.
- Incident Prevention & Investigation
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Assist with implementing corrective actions following incidents or near misses.
- Promote a proactive safety culture among field employees.
- Training & Communication
- Conduct or assist with safety orientations and toolbox talks.
- Reinforce safety expectations and communicate updates to field personnel.
- Serve as a safety resource for employees in the field.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Complete safety inspection reports and documentation.
- Maintain safety logs and records.
- Provide feedback and reporting to safety and operations leadership.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years experience in industrial safety, environmental services, or related field preferred
- Experience working in refineries, petrochemical plants, or industrial facilities strongly preferred
- Certifications (Preferred)
- OSHA 30
- TWIC Card
- Basic Plus
- DISA compliant
- First Aid / CPR / AED
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices
- Ability to identify hazards and enforce safety standards
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently in field environments
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
Work Environment
- Frequent work in industrial environments including refineries and chemical plants
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Night and weekend shifts may be required depending on job schedules
- Must be able to walk job sites, climb stairs, and work around heavy equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to wear required PPE including respirators when required
