About the Role:

The Scale Operator / Warehouse Support position is a dual-role responsible for assisting with both warehouse operations and scale house administrative functions. This individual will divide their time between working in the warehouse environment and operating the scale system. The role requires a detail-oriented and adaptable professional who can maintain accuracy and focus in a fast-paced recycling processing plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate scale house computer systems to obtain accurate weight information for incoming recycling haulers and outbound shipments.
  • Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify shipment contents and weights for accuracy.
  • Issue receipts to drivers and collect required tickets and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records for reporting and operational analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with haulers, truck drivers, supervisors, and peers in person, by phone, radio, and email.
  • Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in warehouse operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience using computer systems for data entry and information processing.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to obtain, document, and record information accurately from multiple sources.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment.
  • Organized, punctual, and dependable.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to interact with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, and customers in a friendly and professional manner.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normal work environment is a recycling plant, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
