About This Position
This position is for an EMT-Basic with the non-emergent transport division of Granville EMS.
Position Responsibilities:
Reports for duty no later than 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start of shift and remains prepared for assignment throughout the work period. Performs non-emergency medical transport for patients requiring BLS-level care, including stretcher and wheelchair transport. Safely loads, secures, transports, and unloads patients using appropriate equipment, including stretchers, wheelchairs, stair chairs, and restraint systems. Conducts patient assessments appropriate to the level of care to identify changes in condition prior to, during, and after transport. Provides basic life support care within EMT scope of practice during transport, including airway management, oxygen administration, vital sign monitoring, bleeding control, and patient positioning. Ensures patient comfort, privacy, and dignity at all times during transport. Communicates effectively with patients, family members, facility staff, and healthcare providers regarding transport needs and patient status. Completes accurate and timely patient care reports (PCRs) and transport documentation in accordance with Granville EMS policies, billing requirements, and regulatory standards. Performs vehicle and equipment checks at the beginning of each shift and ensures readiness, cleanliness, and proper functioning of all assigned equipment. Maintains ambulances and transport vehicles in a clean, safe, and operational condition. Follows all traffic laws, safe driving practices, and Granville EMS vehicle operation policies. Assists with patient transfers between beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and other surfaces using proper body mechanics. Recognizes and reports changes in patient's condition and escalates care appropriately, including requesting ALS support or emergency response when indicated. Maintains compliance with infection control practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination procedures. Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and respect when interacting with coworkers, patients, and partner facilities. Participates in required training, continuing education, and competency assessments. Performs other duties as assigned to support EMS operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess high school diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited EMT program. Current EMT certification. Attend, at a minimum, 30 hours of continuing education annually. The employee must possess a valid driver's license. Must pass Worksteps physical agility program on initial hire and maintain compliance annually.
