Assistant Head Lifeguard - Musante Beach in Northampton at City of Northampton, MA

Duties include seasonal prep to open and close the beach putting buoys out opening and closing of facility supervision of guarding staff lifeguarding duties enforce rules and regulations greet customers and answer questions meeting with supervisors and reporting issues with staff equipment and facility collection and daily consolidation of fees. Seasonal prep to open and close the beach putting buoys out etc. opening and closing the facility assist with equitable schedule of guarding staff; sharing supervision of guarding staff; lifeguarding duties meeting with supervisors and assist with reporting issues with staff equipment and facility; assist the Head Lifeguard with end of year report.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Sharing lifeguard duties and supervision of lifeguards with Head Lifeguard; other duties as outlined in definition.

Education and Experience:

Lifeguarding Certificate

CPR/FPR

First Aid Certification

Waterfront Module desirable.

Age RequirementMust be at least 16 years of age.

Physical RequirementsMust be of sufficient physical health to attain lifeguarding certification; must be able to pass water skills test; must be able to see distressed swimmers and physically remove them from the water.

MISC. INFORMATION: Hourly Pay Rate: $18.85

42 hours per week.

This is a Seasonal position which begins in May though Labor Day 2026.

Accommodation may be made for college schedules which require a later start date or earlier August end date.

There are no benefits with this temporary seasonal position.
