Compensation
Hourly rate $23.00-$25.00 per hour
About the Job
The Camp Mental Health Specialist will provide mental health support to Shalom Austin JCamps staff, including social environment and wellness support to teenagers and young adults, social emotional programming, and other behavioral health consultation.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Mental health support: Provide in-person, brief prevention, and intervention mental health services to JCamps counselors and staff, in accordance with agency policies. Clinical responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, and treatment implementation as appropriate. Teenagers and young adults will be the focus area for this position, although services may also be provided to other age groups and demographics. Interventions may include wellness support, regulation strategies, case management, and crisis intervention.
- General Direct Service: Provides additional social services to clients as needed, such as advocacy, service linkage and referral, and collaboration with other providers. Maintains knowledge of current resources in the Greater Austin area.
- Collaboration: Attends mandatory staff training, biweekly clinical supervision and offers coverage when needed.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintains professional and timely documentation of services as needed or required. Tracks and uses program-related data to enhance service effectiveness.
Competency
- Comfort and experience with clinical interviewing, therapeutic counseling, and case management for clients in-person.
- Working knowledge of Greater Austin mental health and social service resources and referrals.
- Adheres to legal and ethical standards of care, including scope of practice, client privacy and record-keeping, HIPAA, and cultural competency.

Requirements:- Current graduate student in an accredited college or university studying social work, psychology, counseling, or related human service field.
- An interest in working with teenagers and/or young adults.
- Excellent time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed or license eligible in Texas in a counseling or related human service field.
- Additional training, licensure, or certification related to the treatment of young adults, individuals, and/or families (such as LCDC, EMDR, Gottman certification, etc.)
- Cultural competence with Judaism or Jewish culture is preferred.
