SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR, On Call TELCOMM Experience Preferred at Sinai Chicago – Chicago, Illinois

Operates cord switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls by performing the following duties.

• Receives, screens and relays incoming and outgoing calls to proper individuals, department or hospital services.
• Places long distance, collect, and TTY phone calls
• Operates paging system, making all necessary announcements
• Record of doctors on vacation and their weekend on call schedules and the faxing of such information to the nursing floors.
• Record all wall alarms that go off.
• Record of all Codes
• Record of all Dr. Reds (FIRE) and Disaster Drills
• Do numeric paging and Alpha text message paging
• Unpacking, labeling and dispensing of patient's room telephones
• Updating information of all pertinent doctor's changes, eg. Office number, cell number or home number
• On Call availability, evening and weekends, will be scheduled 16 hrs per week.

• High school grad or GED

• Previous experience as telephone operator desirable. Two weeks (three, if needed) on the job training.
