Job Title: Material Handler I – Level III
Job Function: Warehouse / Manufacturing Support
Location: Newark, CA
Reports To: Sr. Warehouse Manager
Job Overview: The Material Handler III is responsible for advanced material handling, order fulfillment, and warehouse operations. This role ensures efficient movement, storage, and tracking of materials, while mentoring junior handlers, supporting production schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Advanced Order Fulfillment & Material Handling
- Execute complex kit pulls and material movements to support production, Planning, and Warehouse operations.
- Backfill material shortages proactively and coordinate with Manufacturing and Planning teams.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material transport equipment safely and efficiently.
- Deliver and pick up materials and components using company vehicles while maintaining delivery logs.
- Ensure timely and accurate material staging for production and assembly lines.
- Process Oversight & Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements for warehouse efficiency, inventory management, and material flow.
- Track and report key warehouse metrics such as stock levels, material shortages, and on-time delivery performance.
- Validate materials readiness for production runs and coordinate with Planning to prevent stockouts.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Train and mentor Level I and II Material Handlers, sharing best practices and safety procedures.
- Delegate routine tasks effectively while monitoring work quality and timeliness.
- Track team performance and provide feedback to Logistics Supervisor.
- Act as a point of contact for cross-functional issues related to material handling.
- Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Maintain strict adherence to ESD protocols, ISO standards, and company safety guidelines.
- Inspect and handle materials per quality standards, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and traceability.
- Report and resolve safety or quality incidents promptly.
- Participate in warehouse safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Lean principles).
- Documentation & Systems
- Record all material movements, deliveries, and inventory adjustments in ERP/WMS systems.
- Maintain accurate logs of vehicle use, equipment maintenance, and material handling activities.
- Generate reports for management on material handling efficiency, discrepancies, and improvement initiatives.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in material handling, preferably in EMS or manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency operating forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Knowledge of inventory management and ERP/WMS systems.
- Experience training or mentoring junior team members.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, ESD handling, and quality standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional coordination.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., and stand, bend, or walk for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
