About This Position

Assistant Branch Supervisor

Role:
Assists the Branch Manager in directing and scheduling resources needed to meet the needs of a branch. Assists members and potential members at the branch and at the main facility with their financial needs, opens new accounts, processes account transactions, resolves problems, and provides assistance and information regarding products and services.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • 35% Assists members at the branch and at the main facility with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with their recommendations.
  • 15% Assists Branch Manager in scheduling and monitoring daily activities of Account Servicing Representatives/Tellers. Performs duties of Branch Manager during times of their absence.
  • 10% Maintains member account information on computer system. Ensure appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
  • 10% Assists in hiring, training, and evaluating employee performance within the department; identifies performance problems and takes action to correct.
  • 10% Requires knowledge of the Credit Union's policies and procedures that affect the Branch. These include monitoring of transactions in compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering Program, including for possible suspicious activity. Other policies & procedures include Regulation E (Electronic Funds Transfer Act), Regulation CC (Expedited Funds Availability Act), Regulation DD (Truth in Savings Act), CRA (Community Reinvestment Act), and FDIC Insurance Coverage. Tellers are required to stay current with information provided to them by management.
  • 10% Assists in monitoring branch activities for compliance with established policy and regulations. Takes action to resolve any out-of-compliance issues.
  • 5% Assists Branch Manager on ordering daily cash requirements for the Branch. Assists in managing vault cash.
  • 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
  1. Ensure the department is providing friendly, professional, personal service to all members.
  2. Provide informed, prompt, accurate service and support to all members and associates by waiting on members in lobby, answering the telephone and responding to messages or correspondence in a timely manner.
  3. Open all accounts, certificates, loans, and other credit union products or services accurately, ensuring all related forms and documents are completed and filed/scanned in a timely manner.
  4. Carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with minimal errors according to established department standards.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Ensure compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures.
  7. Keep management informed regarding key operating issues affecting the branch.
  8. Ensure on average, tellers balance and minimize outages.
  9. Balance your drawer with minimal outage.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, includes some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.

Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office environment.
