Position Summary
-
The Certified Surgical Technologist, under the direct supervision of the LDR Staff Nurse, assists in the provision of patient care for neonatal, adolescent and adult obstetrical patients by the performance of routine and delegated duties based on standards of perioperative nursing. The Certified Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical and delivery team under the direct supervision of the LDR nurse.

Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program Competency as evident in pursuing and maintaining national certification within subspecialty - Required

Experience

1 Year Surgical Tech - Preferred

National Certification - Required*

*A minimum of 10 years verifiable Surgical Tech experience accepted in lieu of Certification

Core Job Functions
- Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
- Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
- Documents daily temperatures. Assures sub-steriles stocked with supplies/blankets. Stocks assigned area.
- Patients are identified per guidelines and patient care interventions are provided under the direction of the RN/LPN. Accurately obtains and documents patient assessments according to hospital/ department guidelines.
- Assists in procedures/ exams as directed. Obtains necessary supplies, equipment, and/ or personnel as needed. Communicates data by timely documentation and reporting of abnormal or patient status change to RN/LPN.
