NeoGenomics is looking for a Lead Clinical Laboratory Technologist for our FISH department in Houston, TXwho wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow.
Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:30pm (subject to change based on business needs)

Position Summary:
The Lead Technologist works under little or no supervision anddemonstrates proficiency in all CoreResponsibilitiesofaClinical LaboratoryTechnologist III.Thisistheadvancedlevelfor the Technologist job category responsible for assisting the department supervisor/manager, participating in training all laboratory personnel, and coordinating and reviewing the work of assigned staff in addition to performing the full range of clinical testing procedures. The Lead Technologisttypicallyleads 5+ employees;maylead fewerthan 5employees dependingonthe size of the department and/or site.
Core Responsibilities:
- DemonstratesproficiencyinallCoreResponsibilitiesofaClinicalLaboratoryTechnologistIII
- Assistsinsupervisingtechnicalpersonnelbymonitoringworkflowtomeettestingschedules; distributing and reviewing work assignments; scheduling; training employees on company and laboratory policies, procedures, techniques, and on equipment; resolving work related problems of staff; and providing input for performance appraisals and disciplinary actions
- Leadsandimplementsprojectimprovementswithinthedepartment
- AssiststheLaboratorySupervisor/Managerwiththedocumentationanddailycompletionof performance verification criteria of tests, reagents and equipment as requested
- ReviewsQAandQCrecordsinaccordancewithdepartmentalprocedures andreportsall problems to the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager
- WorkscloselywithSupervisorinthemonitoringandcorrectionoftrendsandproblemsin equipment operation, reagent usage and test procedures performance
- Performs advanced troubleshooting skills and works closely with the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager to maintain a proper working environment and resolving trends and problemsassociatedwithequipmentoperation,reagentusage andtestprocedureperformance
- Generatesincidentreportswhenappropriateandenterscorrectiveactiontakentoachieve resolution on appropriate QC sheets
- Recommends and institutes corrective action promptly, if not immediately, following a qualifiedincident,potentialproblems,orcorporaterecommendation,andapprovedbythe Director of the Director’s delegate
- Expeditesworkflowtomaximizecapacitybyevaluatingsystemsandrecommending enhancements; as a team player offers feedback to achieve resolution of production problems/issues involving other departments
- Reviewsdepartmentactivitiestoensurecompliancewithdepartmentalpolicesandfederal, state and local regulations
- Assistswiththedepartments’annualcompetencytestingprocessanddocumentation
- Mayworkwithsupervisortoheadupthe validationprocessesthroughdocumentationand development of procedural operations for new tests or new lots following manufacturer’s guidelines and/or established department SOP’s
- Mayserveasatechnicalresourceforthedepartmentbyinvestigatingandresolvinganalytical testing problems, recommending a course of action in instances identified as beyond acceptable limits, and responding to non-routine/complex inquires and/or requests from clients and sales representatives
- EnsuresdepartmentaltrainingchecklistsandSOP’sareupdatedatalltimestoreflectcurrent laboratory procedures
- Promptlyandcourteouslyanswersthephoneandassistsclientsandotherdepartmentswith their inquiries
- MayserveastheSafetyOfficer
- PerformotherdutiesasassignedbydepartmentSupervisor /ManagerorLaboratoryDirector
Education, Experience Qualifications:
- 6+ Years of equivalent experience (high complexity testing) Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university preferred. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biologicalscienceswiththeadditionof1+ yearsoflaboratoryexperience/training/trainingcourse
- Certificate Compliance:
- Nationally: ASCP certification for the assigned specialty, as available
- FL: current state license to perform laboratory testing
- CA: current state license to perform laboratory testing
- TN: current state license to perform laboratory testing
- Advancedunderstandingofgenerallaboratorytechniqueswithemphasisondepartment specific techniques
- Goodvisualacuityincludingcolorperceptionrequiredforcertaindepartments
- Mustbeabletoliftupto50pounds
