Job Description

The Director, Title IX and Student Conduct, provides strategic leadership for Whitworth University’s Title IX compliance and student conduct system. This role ensures institutional adherence to federal and state regulations, including Title IX and VAWA. Builds a student-centered conduct process that emphasizes accountability, learning, and community well-being.

The Director plays a vital role in cultivating a respectful campus environment and advancing Whitworth’s mission by supporting students’ development of character, responsibility, and care for others. Through collaboration with campus partners, this position integrates compliance, education, and student support to promote a thriving and values-driven university community.


Student Conduct Leadership | 50%

  • Lead the administration of the university’s student conduct system, ensuring fair, consistent, and educationally grounded processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain conduct policies and procedures aligned with federal regulations and institutional values.
  • Oversee conduct case management, including investigations, adjudication, sanctioning, and appeals.
  • Partner with campus stakeholders (e.g., Residence Life, Student Success, Campus Security, Counseling Center) to support student well-being and accountability.
  • Design and deliver proactive education on behavioral expectations, conflict resolution, and community standards.
  • Supervise training and development for conduct officers, hearing panel members, and related staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting through Maxient and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Lead the annual review and publication of the Student Handbook.

Title IX Compliance & Coordination | 40%

  • Serve as the university’s Title IX Coordinator, ensuring full compliance with Title IX, VAWA, and related laws.
  • Oversee the intake, assessment, investigation, and resolution of Title IX reports involving students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and prevention strategies that reflect current regulatory guidance and best practices.
  • Train and supervise Deputy Coordinators, investigators, hearing panel members, and advisors.
  • Maintain secure and confidential records of all Title IX-related activities.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and guide institutional response to evolving compliance requirements.

Student Affairs Leadership & Collaboration | 5%

  • Serve as an active member of the Student Affairs leadership team.
  • Collaborate with campus leaders to integrate conduct and compliance work into the broader student experience.
  • Contribute to student leadership development initiatives and divisional priorities.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and serve on institutional committees as needed.

Additional Responsibilities | 5%

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of divisional and institutional priorities.

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in Title IX, student conduct, or related higher education administration (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, and related legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing investigations, adjudication processes, or compliance programs.
  • Proven ability to develop policies and implement systems that support compliance and student development.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a complex organizational environment.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and a demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive campus environment.
  • Proficiency with systems such as Maxient, Colleague, or similar platforms.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
  • Formal training or certification in Title IX administration.
  • Experience with assessment, data-informed decision-making, and strategic planning.

Schedule
Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
Whitworth office hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday
