At the direction of the Therapy Manager, the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) coordinates and assists with department activity including admissions and discharges to Rehab Services, managing phone calls, scheduling patients, office work, and managing outpatient equipment. Present a friendly, courteous, and caring image. Perform other duties as requested by the Therapy Manager, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Therapy Aide and/or Therapy Scheduler.
Direct patient care is included with this role and may include transporting, transferring, and ambulating patients under the direction of staff therapists and assisting staff therapists with patient care as needed.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Prefer one years work experience in a health care setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy preferred.
- Experience with computers and other office equipment.
- Excellent skills in oral and written communication, including grammar, spelling, and use of punctuation.
- Ability to manage a complex work environment.
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service
excellence. - Ability to maintain effective relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
- Ability to organize time, materials, and paperwork effectively.

a) Continual sitting and repetitive hand movements.
b) Frequent twisting of the neck, keyboarding, and talking/hearing in person/on phone.
c) Occasional need to be mobile.
d) This position does not require repetitive lifting/carrying or pushing/pulling in excess of 30 pounds.
Physical Demand
a) Requires writing ability and manual dexterity for applying and manipulating equipment.
b) Cannot have physical limitations that prevent long periods of standing, and walking and frequent bending, stooping, lifting and climbing stairs.
Mental and Visual Demands
A) Requires visual attention to posture, and safety with transfers and gait.
B) Requires mental acuity to concentrate on patient needs with other distractions.
This role encompasses a lot of duties from direct patient care with patients in the hospital and outpatient therapy gym, as well as other office management duties that vary from day to day. This role is often times working with other team members to provide exceptional patient care.
This is a part-time position: .8 FTE, 32 hours per week.
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from either 8:30-5 or 9-5:30.
