Job Description

This position provides one-on-one as well as group academic, career and college transfer advising to students resulting in a heightened level of student engagement, comprehensive decision-making and utilization of a vast array of services to support student success.


This position includes both day, evening and weekend hours (particularly during peak periods).


This position is 5 days per week with a total of 25 hours per week. During peak times, employee may work up to 29 hours. Must be available to work day, evening and weekend hours.

This position is open until Sunday, February 8, 2026.

*This position has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.


**This position requires the candidate to submit the following (3) three clearances as a condition of pre-employment: Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Check, and FBI Fingerprints

  • Provides academic, transfer and career counseling.
  • Advises prospective, new and returning students concerning an educational plan that assists in meeting academic and/or professional goals.
  • Participates in case management for identified students (i.e. probation, Early Alert, etc.).
  • Serves as liaison between Student Affairs and other College units such as Academic Affairs, etc.
  • Participates in College Outreach activities such as Open House, New Student Orientation and high school on-site advising, etc.
  • Supports the Contact Center with answering and responding to academic advising calls, emails and participates in e-advising (i.e. web chat).
  • Engages in on-going learning through innovative professional development including, but not limited to, workshops, conferences, and other professional meetings that promote currency in discipline knowledge and instructional methods.
  • Acts as a resource for faculty and staff.
  • Works as a collaborative, professional member of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management team.
  • Provides service to the College and represent the College in the community as delineated in the collective bargaining agreement and faculty promotion guidelines.
  • Attends scheduled department and general faculty meetings, as well as contractual obligations such as professional development days,convocation, and commencement.
  • Adheres to professional and ethical standards of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Advising experience required, preferably at a community college.
  • Experience with Health Science students and/or Minority populations preferred.
  • Bilingual/multilingual/Spanish-speaking preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student development theory, including career and transfer decision making.
  • Experienced in developmental or college level advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technologies.
  • Evidence of continued professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced groups and first-generation students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
