General Laborer at Encon Heating & AC – Stamford, Connecticut

We are seeking motivated, reliable individuals to join our team as General Laborers. This role is ideal for someone who wants to earn a paycheck while learning valuable, hands-on skills that can lead to long-term opportunities. No extensive experience required—we provide training and mentorship on the job.

What you'll do:

You’ll assist across multiple areas of the company, including job sites, the warehouse, and the sheet metal fabrication shop. Your day may include residential or commercial work or driving an Encon vehicle for deliveries—perfect for someone who enjoys variety.

Job Responsibilities

• Loading/unloading truck, material handling and staging
• Jobsite cleanup and organization
• Setting up ladders, scaffolding (non-certified use only)
• Spotting and assisting licensed techs/installers
• Maintaining tools and equipment
• Assisting in sheet metal fabrication (non-precision tasks)
• Operating basic shop equipment if trained and authorized
• Assembling duct sections under supervision
• Sealing, taping, and insulating ductwork
• Labeling and organizing fabricated materials
• Shop cleanup and material staging
• Assist in hanging ductwork and supports (per instructions)
• Installing grilles, registers, diffusers
• Installing insulation, liners, and vibration isolation
• Assisting with unit setting (rigging support only)
• Running line set covers and sleeves

Required Skills and Experience

• High school diploma/GED

• Ability to drive safely.

• Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.

• Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.

• Able to always remain professional and courteous.

• High attention to detail

Eligibility Requirements

• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

• Employment/education will be verified.

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Encon is a drug free workplace and requires post-offer pre-employment drug testing.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

• Able to work in a variety of extreme weather, hot and cold conditions.

• Able to work off a ladder, sometimes at heights.

Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel within a 30 mile radius of Stamford, CT.
