Manager of Technology at Puyallup Tribal Enterprises – Tacoma, Washington
About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
Puyallup Tribal Enterprises (PTE) is seeking an experienced Manager of Technology to lead and support technology strategy, systems implementation, and operational enablement across our retail, fuel, and enterprise business units. This role is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business objectives, improving operational efficiency, ensuring system reliability and security, and supporting innovation that enhances both employee and customer experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technology Strategy & Systems Management
- Lead the planning, implementation, and optimization of enterprise technology systems supporting retail, fuel, and corporate operations
- Align technology initiatives with business strategy, operational goals, and financial objectives
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and customer engagement
- Establish technology roadmaps, standards, and governance processes to support long-term growth
Systems Integration & Data Management
- Oversee integration between POS systems, fuel systems, financial platforms, inventory systems, analytics tools, and third-party vendors
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, availability, and appropriate access across systems
- Support reporting, dashboards, and analytics that enable data-driven decision-making
- Partner with internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Vendor & Project Management
- Manage technology vendors, service providers, and implementation partners
- Lead cross-functional technology projects, including planning, timelines, budgets, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support
- Establish performance metrics, service-level expectations, and accountability for vendors and internal teams
- Ensure technology projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business needs
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure technology systems comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable security standards
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support cybersecurity, data protection, access controls, and system monitoring
- Identify technology-related risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Maintain documentation, controls, and procedures to safeguard PTE systems and data
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide technology guidance and support to operations, finance, marketing, and leadership teams
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend technology-enabled improvements
- Support change management, system adoption, training, and user engagement
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate resolution to minimize operational disruptions

- Champion PTE Values and work to teach and promote them throughout PTE
- Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and share information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout PTE
- Use all company resources efficiently to promote maximum financial results for PTE; maintain PTE equipment and assets to maximize return on investment
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
- Strictly follow workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard PTE assets at all times
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
- 10+ years of similar work experience in technology and retail operations
- Proven experience managing enterprise systems, integrations, and technology projects
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving business needs
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite, enterprise platforms, POS systems, databases, and security best practices
- Professional, diplomatic interpersonal style with strong relationship-building skills

- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to pass background check
Preferred
- Experience in retail, fuel, hospitality, or multi-site operations
- Experience with POS systems, fuel systems, analytics platforms, or loyalty technologies
- Experience working with Tribal enterprises and/or Tribal government
