About This Position
We are seeking a highly qualified Lead Systems Engineer - Laser Specialist for our Broomfield, CO location, to join the team developing a next-generation quantum computer. The ideal candidate will be a systems engineering professional with a background in laser technology, responsible for guiding the laser and beamline subsystem through its entire lifecycle. The role will serve as the systems engineering interface between the system-level design and architecture team and laser and beamline development teams (both internal and externally contracted). Responsibilities will include subsystem requirements management, interface definition, verification and validation planning, creation and management of engineering documentation, and change management. This role will use the candidate’s expertise in designing cohesive laser systems to contribute to and review subsystem designs. Key Responsibilities:-
Develop and manage subsystem requirements and specifications. Partner with physics teams to ensure that requirements are understood and complete.

Develop and maintain documentation of subsystem interfaces to and interactions with other elements of the system.

Develop and maintain subsystem architecture and design documentation, behavior diagrams, and verification and validation plans.

Lead a multidisciplinary subsystem team of quantum physicists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers.

Work closely with laser system suppliers to review designs and deliverables for compliance to requirements.

Participate in continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, tools, and methods.

Perform trade studies to assess subsystem architecture and design choices.

Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and buy-in.

Bachelor’s degree minimum

Minimum 6+ total years of experience in laser and systems engineering roles, inclusive of:
-
Minimum 4+ years of experience in laser system hardware design, integration, and product development. This experience may include research work during advanced study or while working in an academic setting. Laser systems expertise must include experience with fiber optic components, electro-optic and acousto-optic modulators, and noise-reduction servos.

Minimum 2+ years of systems engineering experience in industry with responsibility for requirements management and interface documentation.

Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.

Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen

Master’s Degree/Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering or related technical field preferred

Proven experience in systems engineering of highly complex laser-based systems, such as spacecraft, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, or quantum computers

Experience deconstructing highly complex systems into clear and comprehensible constituent pieces and work packages

Experience in reviewing designs for scalability and manufacturability

Experience in developing reliability, serviceability, and maintainability requirements

Proficiency in system modeling, simulations, and analysis tools

Demonstrated leadership skills
