About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Treasury Operations Associate monitors and manages financial risk associated with the Treasury function products, including Bonds, Commercial Paper, Yankee CDs, Derivatives and Foreign Exchange transactions. Additional responsibilities for the Senior Treasury Operations Associate include risk analysis and reporting on key metrics and processing transactions, while observing regulatory compliance and established bank policies and procedures.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Confirmation
Issue and receive confirmations of transactions either through electronic platforms such as SWIFT, or by manual means such as standing letters and/or physical contracts for closing operations.
Validate financial conditions entered internally by the Treasury Desk with those received from the counterparty.
Investigate and resolve any differences in terms (price, amount, dates, currency) prior to the settlement date.
Collateral Management
- Calculate the market value of portfolios (Mark-to-Market) to determine the net exposure to each counterparty.
- Issue or respond to margin call requests for additional collateral when exposure exceeds a contractually agreed threshold.
- Coordinate the transfer of cash or securities that serve as collateral.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in valuation or margin calls with counterparties.
Counterparty Control
- Ensure that all legal and regulatory documentation of a client or counterparty is complete and current before the Treasury Desk transacts.
- Configure and maintain the correct customer data, bank accounts, and settlement information in operating systems.
- Maintain custody of the contracts that correspond to the transactions that were carried out by the Treasury Desk.
- Prepare and verify payment instructions through banking systems, depending on each customer.
Transaction Settlement
- Ensure the availability of funds in the bank's settlement accounts to meet daily obligations.
- Review and confirm that payments are made in a timely and accurate manner on a day-to-day basis, minimizing the risk of settlement.
Custody
- Register and control the assets that the bank has at the custodian.
- Manage corporate events associated with the Bonds (coupon collection, Repo, amortizations).
Reconciliation / Accounting
- Reconcile all daily accounting records of transactions, accrued interest, realized and unrealized gains/losses.
- Confirm that the daily valuation of transactions is consistent with the accounting entries defined according to current regulations.
Audit
- Prepare and submit periodic internal and external regulatory reports, as necessary.
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audit examinations, as well required.

- Assume evolving duties and responsibilities of position.
- Work all hours required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities (including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed).
- Travel, as required.
- Provide coverage for other positions, as requested.
- Ability to carry and lift boxes and/or other objects that may weigh between 10 and 25 pounds.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In the performance of their duties, all Bci - Miami Branch staff members are required to comply all state and federal regulatory and legal requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1979, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Bank Bribery Amendments Act. Additionally, all staff members must comply with the Bci’s Personnel Manual and Code of Ethics and other policies of Bci which are either currently in place or which may become effective during the staff member’s employment.
PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to operate IBM compatible personal computers; fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Python, Calypso, Murex, Google Suite, and other banking applications needed to perform the functions of the position.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred, but not required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) is preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Treasury Middle/Back Office within a Financial Institution.
- Knowledge of investment products: Fixed Income, Derivatives and FX required.
- Individuals must be comfortable with details and must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines. Apart from being able to proactively seek solutions to complex problems, the person must be able to quickly learn, comprehend and communicate these concepts. Individuals must also be able to multitask and work independently as well as in a team environment.
