Laborer at Northern Improvement Company – Bismarck, North Dakota

Are you new to construction and ready to work? Are you interested in traveling? Do you want a position with opportunity for growth? We are looking for a laborer for our concrete sawing crew! This crew travels to various jobsites in North Dakota and South Dakota and would love to train someone in the concrete cutting process. Travel is required.

Duties and responsibilities

• Loads, transports, and unloads tools, equipment, and supplies required for each project
• Sandblasting and blowing saw joints
• installing backer rod in joints
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Must be able to use all hand tools of the trade safely & proficiently
• Be able to do high-quality work at a fast pace
• Must be willing and able to work long hours & weekends
• Must be safety-oriented at all times
• Strong work ethic (dependable, excellent attendance, trustworthy)
• Ability to work well with others
• Must have a reliable means of transportation
• The ability to operate some motorized equipment is a plus, but will train
• Opportunity to be trained on the concrete saw and hot pour kettle
• All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic (dependable, excellent attendance, trustworthy)
• Travel required
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment

Physical requirements

• Must be capable of strong verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
• Must have clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
• Must be capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
• Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
• Must be able to reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
• Must be capable of occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
• Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds

Working conditions

• Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
• Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
• May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week
