Position Summary:
This position plays an integral role in the daily functions within the Human Resources Department and will have responsibility for key areas of assignments and will also cross-functionally train to provide support across the department including, but not limited to; recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and payroll.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and adheres to company policies, best practices, and operating procedures. Makes recommendations for updates to HR Director and assists with drafting revisions.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and modern technologies in human resources, talent management, benefits, payroll, and employment laws.
- Support a values-driven environment through consultation and service regarding employee engagement activities.
- Manages and reviews compliance with affirmative action policies and reporting requirements.
- Evaluates and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion programs throughout the organization.
- Prepares and submits required compliance reports and filings including, but not limited to EEO-1, EPRC, 5500’s.
- Evaluates HRIS system setup, and utilization to ensure the platform is appropriately used to fullest capacity.
- Audits internal record keeping systems and platforms, including HRIS, to ensure data is accurate and updated.
- Assists managers in preparation of corrective action notices and attends and participates in employee discussions regarding corrective actions, investigations, and terminations.
- Conducts employee complaint investigations, interviews, and develops methods of recording and tracking all complaints. Monitors and responds to complaints reported through third-party hotline.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training to ensure compliance.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including, but not limited to compensation, payroll, benefits, leave management, performance management, corrective actions, employee relations, training, and development, and all others as needed or required within the department.
- Reviews and makes recommendations on best practices for learning and development programs and platforms.
- Assists in the creation of internal training programs for employees, managers, and high-potential employees.
- Oversees the performance management process, and systems and holds management accountable to deadlines.
- Monitors and manages the leave of absence policies in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and in accordance with company policies for paid and unpaid absences including birth-related leave, USSERA, and other that may apply.
- Participates in evaluation of vendors, reviews demonstrations, makes recommendations and assists with systems implementation.
- Ensures all HR related employee communications are updated and available in Spanish either working with an outside vendor, or if bilingual, will internally update common documents internally.
- Works with Payroll to rotate payroll processing responsibilities, participates in audits, and provides support as needed.
- Works collaboratively with Benefits to support audits, discriminatory testing, annual open enrollment, COBRA management, invoice reconciliation, carrier connections with HRIS, and compliance reporting.
- Works collaboratively with Talent Acquisition to support recruiting, applicant screening, orientation and onboarding functions as needed.
- Cross train within the team, and across other departments, to provide backup support throughout the department.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field is required.
- A minimum of 2 - 4 years’ HR experience is required
- Preferred certifications include PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and intermediate experience with Excel.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish is strongly preferred.

Full-time annual salary $45,000 – $60,000 per year, dependent upon experience, skills and qualification. Candidate may be hired as a HR Coordinator or HR Generalist based on qualifications.
