About This Position
The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Accounting Clerk. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for the distribution of incoming mail, daily posting of receipts and check deposits, recording daily journal entries for the gift log, as well as other administrative and accounting support tasks.
Requirements:- Process incoming mail and distribute to departmental mailboxes.
- Record daily cash transactions, cash receipts, and daily credit card sales in the general ledger.
- Deposit checks to bank account via remote capture.
- Serve at backup for credit card transaction coding and reporting.
- Assist in accounts payable administration.
- Support accounting staff with various tasks, including bookkeeping, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Assist with administrative support for the budget, annual audit, tax return, and special audits such as workers’ comp, 401k, etc.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school education or GED and 3-5 years bookkeeping and basic accounting knowledge and experience working in a fast- paced accounting department.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Initiative, organizational skills, good judgment, and the ability to handle a high volume of transactions.
