Kindergarten Teacher at Visitation Catholic Church Kansas City – Kansas City, Missouri

Position Title: Teacher

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: Principal

Position Overview:
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and faith-filled Kindergarten Teacher to join our Catholic school community. The ideal candidate will create a joyful, nurturing, and structured classroom environment where young learners can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. This teacher will play a foundational role in helping students develop a love for learning while introducing them to the values and traditions of the Catholic faith. Candidates are not required to be Catholic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, math, science, and social studies
• Foster early reading and writing skills through engaging, hands-on learning experiences
• Create a warm, safe, and structured classroom environment that supports young learners
• Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and Gospel values into daily classroom life
• Support students in developing social skills such as sharing, cooperation, and kindness
• Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of developmental needs
• Use ongoing assessment to monitor student progress and guide instruction
• Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
• Participate in school Masses, prayer services, and community events

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• Valid teaching certification (state licensure required)
• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
• Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the Catholic identity of the school
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience teaching Kindergarten or early childhood education
• Knowledge of early literacy development and foundational math skills
• Ability to create engaging, play-based and hands-on learning opportunities
• Experience differentiating instruction for young learners
